How did you get into probate genealogy?

I’d always been a big fan of Heir Hunters growing up and working in the industry was my dream job! My friend already worked here and suggested I apply, so I did and the rest is history!

What does a normal day look like for you?

A normal day for me consists of researching new cases assigned to me and speaking with beneficiaries on different cases.

What is your most memorable case to date?

In one case I worked on, we could not find a birth record for the Deceased anywhere – he was a mystery! It was only by making enquiries with an neighbour that we discovered he had changed his name completely. It was very rewarding and shows just how important our work can be!

What do you love most about working at Finders?

I love that we start a new case with such limited information about the Deceased and within a few hours we can have researched and mapped out their entire family tree – it’s like being a detective!

Away from genealogy, if you could do any other job in the world, what would you do and why?

In another life, I would be an investigative journalist writing top news stories. I think it would be fun to put our research skills to use in a different setting!
